Slide the reservoir in place on the right side of the body. There are two ribs on the side of the reservoir that fit into two grooves on the body. Line the filter basket with a round coffee filter. Add approximately one level tablespoon of ground coffee beans to the coffee filter per cup, adjusting the amount depending on the desired coffee strength. Use no more than a total of 12 tablespoons for a whole pot of coffee. Add a round coffee filter to the filter basket and fill it with two tablespoons of ground coffee for every one cup of water in the reservoir. Use no more than 12 tablespoons of ground coffee. Ice dilutes the coffee, so the brewed coffee should be twice the strength as hot coffee. Set the filter basket in the coffee tank, removing ice cubes from the tank if the basket doesn't fit properly. Set the coffee tank on the BrewStation body and close the lid. Fill a glass with ice. Push in the dispenser bar with the glass to dispense the cold coffee. Ice in the glass is necessary because the six cups of hot coffee that drips from the ground coffee to the coffee tank melts most if not all of the ice in the tank. Keeping it clean is just a little easier than the carafe dripmakers I have owned. That is because it is much easier to clean the water reservoir than in most conventional dripmakers. Technically the urn and filter basket are stacked on top of the reservoir in the base. Since the coffee urn is removable, the reservoir is completely accessible for cleaning. As with all dripmakers you still need to perform the vinegar ritual to remove scale from the elements, but at least you can keep the reservoir quite clean from accumulating residue. All in all, it makes a pretty good cup of coffee. I set it up at night and program it to brew before I get up in the morning. Since it can keep the coffee warm for up to 4 hours, I normally brew about 6 to 8 cups and hit on it throughout the day. I know that's a mortal sin for coffee aficionados and snobs, but then I doubt they would even look at coffeemakers like these.Those after 2.5 yrs have always stopped dispensing as the prong begins to flex due to the heat and wont push the coffee release valve as much eventually leading to no coffee coming out. The big pain was the old design allowed condensation from the lid to drip into the wells under the coffee carafe and it would overflow into the drip tray, thenmix with dripped coffee inside, and then run all over the counter on the 3rd pot. You'd have to remember to tip the entire machine into the sink to empty those wells. BUT- this model is much improved. Those two issues are gone. See my picture of it pouring into my thick mug. The spout output is at least 1 inch from the button. If your mug does not clear, you need another mug. No condensation at all on my unit either. They have put in two fixes with a much improved catch ramp built into the coffee filter holder and the area at the top back at the lid hinge now allows the condensation to drip directly into the water well where you pour the water. I think competitors write bogus reviews to scare people into not buying the product. Don't listen to it. This is the new and improved version. It's narrower, more compact, has a bold setting and does not drip lid condensation into the drip tray like the old one did. This one rocks! The only thing that's nit picky is filling it with water. Using the coffee carafe you need to rinse it well first. Or, you need another container marked at 12 cups to use to fill it with each time. Other than that, perfection with this version.I was satisfied with the product until I woke up one morning with the remaining coffee left in the pot overnight all over my countertop. I read the instruction booklet, cleaned the pot as instructed and made more coffee only to have the same thing happen again. This happened several times in a row over several days of use. I finally got frustrated and bought another coffee pot. I am not writing to complain or ask for a refund, but simply to inform you that the pot I got from you was defective so that you can check it out for yourselves. The problem I had happened from the site where you pushed the cup against the pot to fill it with coffee. It never shut completely and continued to drip until the pot was empty of any remaining coffee. Easy to replace a pot, but not so easy to replace a counter top or a cabinet.Their new design has some pluses and minuses. Too many pluses to list them all, and the minuses are two: 1) it isn't that easy to clean the reservoir and 2) you can't pour from the top of the reservoir into a thermos. My old BrewStation had a spout built into the reservoir and made it easy to brew 10 cups, pour 8 into my thermos and the remaining into my insulated mug. This models reservoir is multiple parts with openings at the top in a few places and is not sealed. It require you to use the built in push to pour spout at the bottom of the reservoir. I use a measuring cup with a handle to accomplish what used to be a quick and simple task. It works, but takes more time and means I have another item to wash. Other than that, I love the coffee maker. It brews 12 cups very fast and exactly how I like it. It has a timer for how long the warmer will stay on and is programmable so you can set it up before bed and your coffee will be ready when you wake up. Please try again First of all, you need to have this thing pushed up against a wall because otherwise, trying to fill a cup by pushing it into the dispenser bar moves the entire thing backwards which dislocates it from the drip tray. It's a small but annoying feature. Second, the fit and finish on the unit makes GM look like BMW. Its awful. The top section shakes around and nothing seems to fit together properly. I often have to hold down the machine so that it doesn't shift back on the counter. Before buying this, I made coffee with a pour over cone and it was always a chore if I needed more than two small cups' worth. It was also a pain if I wanted coffee before leaving for class early in the morning because I had to budget the time for everything but not with this. I know programmable coffee maker aren't new or rocket science but this is my first one and I love setting it all up the night before and waking up to hot coffee. It's the best. I like the lack of a carafe. The internal heating element keeps the coffee piping hot for up to four hours without it affecting the taste. I've used the regular brewing setting and the 1-4 cups and have no issues with either. The only issue I've had with the machine is that I wasn't 100 sure where to fill to in the reservoir - was I filling to the bottom of the number or covering it with water. If you want to make six cups of coffee, fill the reservoir with water until it fully covers the 6 measure and is just touching the bottom of the next measure. If you overfill the reservoir past the 12 cup mark, there is an overflow drain at the back of the machine - you do risk flooding your counter. Just be careful when filling to stop at the 12 cup mark.
